Jammu kashmir rains: At least 10 people died on Tuesday due to torrential rains and landslides in Jammu and Kashmir. Traffic has been disrupted. Due to this, hundreds of tourists are trapped. 18 trains have to be canceled. According to officials, train services were suspended on the down line between Pathankot Cantt and Kandrori due to soil erosion in the mill river and sudden floods. The movement of the train was stopped between Jammu Tawi and Katra, as well as between Jammu Tawi and Bari Brahmin. Four trains have been sent back from the middle route and four trains have been canceled from their early stations.
Passengers at Jammu Tawi railway station expressed concern over this disruption. A passenger said, “We were going for darshan, but now, when we were thinking of going back, all trains were canceled due to heavy rains. Roads and highways are also closed. All trains have been canceled to prevent the loss of any life and property due to security reasons.”
Another passenger threw light on the seriousness of the situation, saying, “The Himkoti route is completely closed. Landslides are also happening … all trains have been canceled. So we have to find out how to go back. It is raining very strongly. Whoever is there has been stopped there.”
A third passenger waiting for the update said, “Nothing has been confirmed. When the water level is low, the train will run. It is raining very strong. 3-4 bridges of Jammu have also been washed away.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a new advisory, in which on Tuesday, in the Jammu Division “scattered places, very heavy rains and extremely heavy rains at different places” and warned of moderate to heavy rains in South Kashmir.

On Tuesday, 6 people were killed and 14 were injured in a landslide due to heavy rains near the Vaishno Devi temple in Katra in Jammu and Kashmir. Rescue teams reached the spot soon after the incident. The bodies and injured were transferred to the Community Health Center (CHC) of Katra. 4 people have died due to cloudburst and sudden floods in Doda.
