When the groom was called on stage for the Jaimala ceremony, he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. As soon as he reached the stage, he lost his balance and fell. According to the people present at the spot, after this he started doing the serpent dance, which surprised the people present at the function. As soon as she got information about the groom’s condition, the bride reached the stage. Seeing the groom drunk, she immediately refused to marry him. After this decision of the bride, a heated argument started between the two parties, which soon turned into a fight. An atmosphere of chaos was created on the spot. On information, Chaubepur police station reached and controlled the situation.

After the incident, both the parties were called to the police station, where efforts for panchayat and compromise continued throughout the day. However, the bride remained firm on her decision. She clearly said that she cannot spend her life with a drunkard and will not marry him at any cost. Chaubepur police station in-charge Durgesh Mishra said that the matter is under cognizance. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the groom was drunk. At the same time, the girl’s side has also alleged that the boy’s family had demanded additional dowry of Rs 1 lakh during the marriage. Police are investigating the allegations from both sides. Further legal action will be taken based on the complaint. At present the incident remains a topic of discussion in the area.
