Japanese encephalitis knocks in Delhi, this disease spread by mosquitoes is fatal

One such Japanese disease is now knocking in the country, which can prove to be quite dangerous. Like dengue fever, this disease also spreads mainly through mosquito bites. Like bird flu, this disease also spreads from animals to humans, whose name is Japanese encephalitis fever. One case of this disease has come to light. It is important to be careful with this.

According to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), a case has come to light in Bandipur area in West Zone of Delhi. Experts say that encephalitis fever is quite dangerous. It is also called brain fever. Japanese encephalitis (JE) is a viral disease caused by Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV). This virus is spread by mosquitoes, it also spreads through animals, birds and pigs. If mosquitoes bite animals infected with this virus and then bite a human, then this virus enters the human body and causes Japanese encephalitis fever.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms of JE usually appear 5 to 15 days after a mosquito bite.

3.⁠ ⁠Muscle pain
4. Vomiting with headache
5. ⁠Seizures

How is identification done?

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) test is done to diagnose JE. Antibodies against JEV are detected in a blood test.

If this fever goes to the brain then it is difficult to control it. This can also cause death. More cases of this fever occur in children. The disease has a high case fatality rate (CFR) and those who survive may suffer from varying degrees of neurological sequelae.
