Maharashtra Congress state president Nana Patole offered his resignation to national president Mallikarjun Kharge. He appealed to free himself from the responsibility of the organization. However, the party has not accepted his resignation. The high command said that it is not just an issue of the President, it is a matter of election rigging.
According to the information, the high command told Nana Patole not to spoil the narrative by giving the matter of resignation to the media now. He told Patole to remain on the post for now and the decision would be taken after reviewing the defeat.
Mahayuti government again in Maharashtra
Mahayuti has achieved a spectacular victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. In this election, Mahayuti has got 233 seats and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has got 49 seats. Others have won on 6 seats. Mahayuti has secured 49.6 percent vote share. Whereas MVA got 35.3 percent votes. Let us tell you that Congress had contested elections on 103 seats in Maharashtra, but it got only 16 seats.
Nana Patole won the election by 208 votes
State Congress President Nana Patole had contested the elections from Sakoli seat. Here, after a tough fight, he could win by only 208 votes. He has defeated Avinash Brahmankar of BJP. Nana Patole got 96795 votes, while Brahmankar got 96587 votes. In 2019, Nana Patole had won the Sakoli seat by a margin of about 8 thousand votes.
Many Congress stalwarts lost the elections
This time, 8-time MLA and Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat lost the election from Sangamner seat. Former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has also lost the election. He was contesting from Dakshin Karad seat. However, the opposition has accused BJP of tampering with EVMs.
