The Congress leader was reacting to a newspaper report on the party’s latest organizational appointments in Punjab, citing his non-inclusion in various state committees. Tiwari is currently an MP from Chandigarh, in 2019 he was an MP from Anandpur Sahib in Punjab and has also been an MP from Ludhiana.
Major changes in Punjab Congress
The comments come after the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Wednesday announced key organizational appointments for the upcoming 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, including the names of chairpersons and co-chairpersons of several election-related committees, but Congress MP Manish Tewari, a three-time Lok Sabha member from Chandigarh and one of the party’s key leaders in Punjab, has not been assigned any organizational role.
According to a press release issued by AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the appointments with immediate effect. According to the announcement, Charanjit Singh Channi has been appointed chairman of the campaign committee, while Vijay Inder Singla will be the chairman of the election management and coordination committee. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has been made the chairman of the core committee, and Amar Singh will lead the manifesto committee.
The party also confirmed that Amarinder Singh Raja Wading will continue to be the president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, while Pratap Singh Bajwa will continue to be the leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Punjab. AICC also announced the appointment of three working presidents for the Punjab unit – Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Raj Kumar Verka and Sangat Singh Gilzian. (ANI)
