Hero New Electric Bike: India’s largest motorcycle company Hero MotoCorp is preparing to launch its first electric bike. Hero’s petrol-powered bikes are very popular in the country. Seeing the increasing popularity of electric two-wheelers, Hero also does not want to lag behind in the electric bike race. Hero is already selling Vida electric scooters, but now efforts are on to try its hand in electric bikes as well.
Hero MotoCorp has a partnership with Zero Motorcycles, an American premium electric bike company. Both the companies are jointly making a new electric motorcycle. In March 2023, both these brands had signed an agreement to make a new premium electric bike.
Competition will increase with the arrival of Hero
Revolt Motors tops the country’s electric bike market electric bike Sells. According to vehicle portal data, the company has sold 6,948 units of electric bikes in the 10 months of 2024. This company sells three electric bikes – RV400, RV400 BRZ and RV1. After the launch of Hero’s electric bike, new competition will come in this segment.
Will compete with Ultraviolette F77
The new bike of Hero and Zero will be a performance electric bike. It will compete with Ultraviolette’s electric bike Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2. 305 units of F77 Mach 2 have been sold between January and October 2024. TVS Motor’s money is invested in Ultraviolet Company.
When will Hero’s first electric bike arrive?
Talking about the partnership between Hero and Zero, the experience of Zero motorcycle designing, battery pack, technology etc. will be useful in making the new electric bike. At the same time, Hero’s experience in large-scale manufacturing and marketing will help in making it and increasing sales.
At present, it is not clear when Hero’s first electric bike will be launched. It is believed that this bike can be launched in 2026. Hero and Zero have not officially disclosed the details like battery pack, range, design of the upcoming electric bike.
