Rohit Karjat won the election from Jamkhed seat by 1243 votes.
He defeated BJP’s Ram Shinde. Rohit Pawar got 127676 votes while Ram Shinde stood second by getting 126433 votes. Independent Rohit Chandrakant got 3489 votes. According to the information, at the time of counting, there was news of Rohit Pawar’s defeat in the last round due to some technical reasons. But on re-counting, Rohit Pawar won the election by 1243 votes. There were a total of 11 candidates on this seat.
BJP once had dominance on this seat
Before the 2019 elections, BJP had won the Karjat Jamkhed assembly seat 5 times consecutively. At the same time, BJP’s fort collapsed due to the defeat in the 2019 elections. Sadashiv Lokhande of BJP won from this seat for three consecutive times in 1995, 2000 and 2005. Whereas BJP’s Ram Shinde had won in the 2009 and 2014 elections. At the same time, Rajendra Pawar, who is contesting on this seat, is the third generation of his family.
Rohit Rajendra Pawar is the grandson of Dinkarrao Govindrao Pawar, elder brother of NCP chief and former Chief Minister Sharad Pawar. His rival and BJP candidate Ram Shinde has been a member of the Legislative Council. Before the year 2019, he was the Water Conservation Minister in the Maharashtra Government. He has been MLA from this seat for two consecutive terms in 2009 and 2014.
