Asia’s second largest red chilli market is in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated in Bedia area of Mandi district. Farmers from different parts of the country come to this market to buy and sell red chillies. Bediya Mirch Mandi is world famous especially for Nimari Lal. Lakhs of quintals of red chillies come here every year, which are exported to different parts of the country and the world.
Bediya Mandi is the second largest red chilli market in Asia. This market is spread over about 21 acres. As soon as new chilli crops arrive, farmers sell their red chillies to traders in large numbers in the market. It is being told that till October this year, 77,507 quintals of chilli has reached the market. Red chilli farmers from different parts of the country reach this market. There are more than 400 traders in this market, who buy chillies from the farmers.
1 thousand laborers working
At the same time, the number of businessmen coming from different states is also not less. Every year more than 15 traders from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat reach this market. Nimar chilli is cultivated in about 50 thousand hectares in Khargone district alone. About one thousand laborers work from this market. Due to which they are earning their living. Farmers buy red chilli first. Later, after getting it cleaned, it is sent to India and abroad.

Talking about Asia’s first largest chilli market, it is in Guntur city of Andhra Pradesh. Guntur market is also called chilli yard. The red chillies coming in this market are exported to Canada, Europe and many countries in Asia. Red chillies from Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh and Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh are in demand all over the country.
