Team India’s grip is getting stronger in the first test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In this match being played at Optus Stadium in Perth, Team India has left behind the failure of the first innings and made a strong comeback in the second innings. With the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant century and KL Rahul’s strong half-century, Team India has gained a strong lead over Australia. Amidst all this, star batsman Virat Kohli was also seen gaining momentum in the second innings and a proof of this came from his shot which injured the security guard sitting near the boundary.
On Sunday, November 24, the third day of the match, Team India proceeded with its second innings. There was a 200-run partnership between Jaiswal and Rahul, after which Devdutt Padikkal also supported Jaiswal for some time. Then Josh Hazlewood took the wicket of Padikkal on the first ball of the second session. This is where Virat Kohli entered, who was out after scoring only 5 runs in the first innings.
Virat’s dangerous six
This was an important innings for Virat, so he also batted with caution. However, Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel were out in front of Virat, after which he took over the innings with Washington Sundar. When Virat was set at the crease, he played an upper cut on a short pitched ball from fast bowler Mitchell Starc. The ball went straight outside the third man boundary for 6 runs but a small accident happened here.
There was a security guard sitting right near the boundary, who was keeping an eye not on the match but on the spectators. He did not see the ball coming and after hitting the boundary, the ball bounced and hit him on the back of the head. Everyone got scared after seeing this scene. Virat Kohli also looked worried after seeing this. Immediately the medical team reached the guard and examined him. The matter of relief was that the speed of the ball had reduced after hitting the boundary cushion, hence it did not hit the head too hard.
Scored half century, wrote name with Sachin
During this innings, Virat also completed a half-century, which is only his second half-century in Test this year. He also achieved a special milestone. The former Indian captain has now completed his 2000 runs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli has achieved this feat in his 44th innings and has become the 5th Indian batsman to do so. Before him, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Cheteshwar Pujara had done this feat. Sachin still has the record of 3262 runs in his name.
