Today was the second day of the three-day summit being held at Germany’s historic football ground MHP Arena. In this summit, all the stalwarts of the country and the world gathered together on one platform. This special evening was made even more special by a person who spread the colors of our country’s culture on a foreign stage by decorating it with tunes.
In this special program, tribute was given to the country’s first singer Gauhar Jaan. Saluting the art of this amazing fankara, the country’s famous artist Arpita Chatterjee won the hearts of the people with My Name Is Jaan Solo Concert. Arpita has performed in many different languages including Hindi, Bengali, Bhojpuri and Oriya. If reports are to be believed, she has been a part of more than 50 films.
‘The Gramophone Girl Of India’ Gauhar Jaan
With her voice, Arpita once again brought the songs of The Gramophone Girl of India Gauhar Jaan to the people and hoisted the flag of Indian culture on foreign lands. Everyone who heard this concert was mesmerized by Arpita’s voice. He took everyone to an era when music was much purer. Everyone enjoyed Arpita’s performance. Arpita chose from many evergreen songs of Gauhar Jaan and lent her voice to 10 songs in 5 languages. In each song, genres of Indian classical music like Thumri, Kirtan and Dadra were depicted.
Tribute given through show
Through this show, a tribute was given to the life of singer Gauhar Jaan, who recorded the country’s first song 122 years ago. Even in today’s times, it is not so easy for a person to earn name in the field of art. It can be estimated from this that when Gauhar Jaan would have taken this decision, how much opposition and what kind of situations he would have had to face. But Gauhar faced every problem without giving up and by making her voice her identity, she took a flight which will always be remembered.
