We are not satisfied with Delhi government’s response on pollution: Supreme Court

The situation remains bad due to pollution in the country’s capital Delhi. Due to increasing pollution every day, the Supreme Court had implemented Group 4. The pollution issue was heard in the Supreme Court on Friday. During this, the court said that it is not satisfied with the answers of the Delhi government. Due to which the Supreme Court has reprimanded the Delhi government lawyer. The next hearing of the case will be on November 25.

The Supreme Court said that we are not satisfied with the affidavit of the Delhi government. While hearing the petition filed on the air pollution issue in Delhi-NCR, the Supreme Court issued an important guideline.

Checkpost should be made at 113 points

Taking a strict stance on the ever-increasing pollution in Delhi, the court said that checkposts should be immediately established at all 113 points of entry into Delhi. The court said that there is continuous negligence at the entry point. The staff present at the check post should be ordered to ensure that trucks enter Delhi as per Group 4 rules.

The Supreme Court said that out of 113 entry points, 13 major entry points are monitored to ensure compliance with Sections A and B of GRAP Phase IV. The Supreme Court said that about 100 entry points are unmanned and there is no one to check the entry of trucks.

Lawyers will find out whether the rules of GRAP-4 are being followed or not.

The Supreme Court said that despite the orders passed by the CAQM, there has been a failure on the part of the Delhi government and the police to comply with the sections under GRAP Phase IV. The Supreme Court observed that CCTV cameras were installed at 13 entry points and directed the CCTV footage to be given to the amicus curiae in the case as soon as possible. 13 lawyers from the Bar will visit various entry points and find out whether GRAP-4 rules are being followed at those entry points or not.
