You must have heard about licensing of guns, revolvers or other weapons. But have you ever heard of getting a license for possessing a knife? This has been happening and a person in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh has a license to keep a knife. He got this license to possess a knife for self-defense. This person is the only person in the city who has a knife license. This license was taken 42 years ago but now there are problems in renewing it.
Rakesh Yadav, a resident of Rawatpur, Kanpur, has the Karauli knife and its license purchased 42 years ago. He is the only person in the city who has a knife license. Rakesh Yadav is keeping the Karauli knife and its license with him like a heritage. He got this license for his self-defense on 2 September 1982.
That’s why a knife license was made
Rakesh Yadav was working as a driver in the Collectorate and retired in 2020. He told that in 1982, the CJM’s office was near the Magistrate’s office. Then a miscreant from Musanagar shot the witness, whom they caught. On this incident, the magistrate made him apply for a knife and in September 1982, he got a knife license. He says that since then he has confidence in his knife and he renews his license every year.
Not being renewed since 2020
Rakesh Yadav told that since 2020, his knife license is not being renewed. He is very upset about this. He wants his license to be renewed. In this matter, ADM City Rajesh Kumar says that in this era it is surprising for someone to have a license for a knife. It remains to be seen whether the knife license can be renewed or not. If there is a provision for renewal in the mandate, it will be renewed, otherwise the license will have to be surrendered.
