The police of Sahibabad police station of Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh has arrested a fake IPS officer along with one of his associates. The fake IPS officer was claiming to be a Manipur 1979 batch IPS officer and retired from DG rank. He used to put pressure on officials to get things done as per his wish. The intentions of this fake officer were so high that he used to call and talk to other states and ministries including the Centre. Besides, claiming himself to be retired, he used to take serving officers for dinner in big hotels. Ghaziabad Police has arrested the accused and is investigating further.
Sahibabad police station of Ghaziabad, near the country’s capital Delhi, has arrested a fake IPS officer named Anil Katiyal. Along with this, the police has also arrested the second accused Vinod Kapoor. Cases are registered against both of them under various sections in Indirapuram police station. Both the accused are very clever in which Anil Katiyar used to call the police claiming himself to be an IPS officer of 1979 batch and saying that he is an IPS officer of Manipur Bench. Apart from being appointed in IB, he is currently working as an advisor in the Home Ministry.
Along with this, with the aim of helping the second accused Vinod Kapoor, after calling the DCP PRO office on November 14, the accused put pressure on the police by calling twice on the official mobile number of Sub Inspector Krishna Kumar Sharma posted in the Commissioner of Police Commissionerate office. Was. He also threatened Indirapuram police over the phone to file a case for life imprisonment.
The father of the accused was an IRS officer
Giving information, Additional CP of Police Dinesh Kumar P said that the accused Anil Katiyal is originally a resident of New Delhi. The father of the accused, late Chetram Katiyal, had been an IRS officer and the primary education of the accused Anil Katiyal was done at St. Columbus School and college at St. Stephen’s College. Anil Katiyal appeared for the UPSC exam in 1979 in which he failed. After this, he once again went to USA in 1979 to pursue PhD studies and in 1980 he left his PhD studies midway and returned to India.
After coming to India, Anil Katyal worked as a manager in Hindustan Lever Company from 1980 to 2000 and then worked as Chief General Manager in Yamaha Company from 2000 to 2005. After that, he retired while working as Vice President Corporate Affairs in Vodafone Company from 2005 to 2015. Accused Anil Katiyal used to cheat people by pretending to be an IPS officer of 1979 batch.
The second accused is a resident of Gurugram.
Whereas the second accused Vinod Kapoor is originally a resident of C43 Series Road Police Station DLF Phase 3 Gurugram Haryana. Accused Vinod Kapoor has worked in the Government Defense Construction sector. In 1976, he formed Bharat Construction Company and worked in Rajasthan. In 1988, Delhi Construction Company was formed by partnering with Bharat Construction Company. Vinod Kapoor has constructed hangar runway compound walls of important places like Delhi, Palam, Sarsawa Airport, Gwalior Air Base. Both the accused met each other 15 days ago through Gurvinder Singh.
A person named Gurvinder Singh does trading business in Dubai. Accused Anil Katiyal was introduced to Gurvinder Singh by Raj Sahni and Balvinder Sahni. Raj Sahni and Balwinder are billionaire real estate businessmen based in Dubai. Which is also known as Abu Saba. Rajsahani and Balwinder are in UAE jail since February 2024 in a fraud of US $ 27 million. Accused Anil Katiyal has good relations with Raj Sahni. Now with its help, Anil was trying to get him released from UAE by using his fake identity. For this he also called the ministries of Delhi.
Ghaziabad Police made arrest
Giving information, Additional CP Dinesh Kumar P said that Anil Katiyal has got the bar license for Whiskey Bar and Clove Private Limited Company by posing as a retired IPS officer of 1979 batch to some Delhi Police officers. At the same time, he has obtained financial benefits from the Excise Department in Delhi’s RTO by claiming himself to be a retired IPS.
After such identification and after claiming to be a retired officer, the police department officials did not do much investigation. For this reason many people became victims of his fraud but his game of fraud was caught in Ghaziabad. When the police started investigating against this, it came to light that no police officer of the mentioned batch had passed out at that time. Also, at other places where Anil Katiyal declared himself posted, no officer with that name was found posted. After this the police arrested the accused. Police have recovered some chat and call recordings from the mobile of the accused. In which he is heard applying pressure with his fake influence.
