Two trainee players taking football training at KD Singh Babu Stadium have filed a case of molestation and harassment against the sports officer in-charge of the district and the coach. The whole matter is of KD Singh Babu Stadium under the city Kotwali area. Two female players taking football training here have filed a complaint with the police alleging that Rajesh Kumar Sonkar has previously worked as a sports officer at the KD Singh Babu Stadium. At present he is in charge again. During his first tenure, the sports officer continued to behave in a dirty, indecent and immoral manner with the female trainee players.
Allegations of bad touch from players
The victim players said that none of the girls complained due to fear of spoiling their career. The players allege that Sonkar, taking advantage of his high position in the department, has got his duties imposed in all the football related competitions and selection trials etc. held in Barabanki. Along with bad touching, he also tries to misbehave with female players and harass them physically and mentally. Due to fear of public shame and intimidation etc., no girl is ever able to muster the courage to speak against them.
Pressure to meet at residence
The victims say that Shraddha Sonkar, a football coach posted in the district, is a relative of Rajesh Sonkar. She creates unnecessary pressure to keep meeting at his residence. He was also given incentives to promote various types of sports. It is alleged that even after being transferred to another district, sports officer Rajesh Sonkar has been getting his duty done in the stadium during sports competitions.
Once again he has been given the charge of the stadium. In this whole matter, Barabanki CO City Sumit Tripathi said that a case has been registered against sports officer Rajesh Kumar Sonkar and football coach Shraddha Sonkar under sections 74, 315 (2) and 85 BNS and investigation has been started.
