The by-elections being held on 9 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh may not decide the power, but the future political condition and direction is going to be decided. This is the reason why the UP by-election is being considered as the semi-final of 2027. Both BJP and SP have put in full force, but there are ruckus at many places in the by-elections. There was a lot of uproar in Sisamau, Meerapur and Kundarki seats, about which SP complained and Akhilesh Yadav held a press conference. After this, the Election Commission has suspended seven policemen including the Inspector.
The Election Commission has taken action after SP’s complaint and receiving irregularities through various means. Two police officers have been suspended in Sisamau and two police officers have been suspended in Mirapur, Muzaffarnagar. Similarly, a police sub-inspector and policemen have been suspended in Moradabad. Despite this, voting is taking place vigorously in Meerapur and Kundarki seats, while the least voting has taken place in Ghaziabad seat.
In the 9 assembly seats of UP where elections are being held, 62.14 percent voting took place in the 2022 elections. 56.85 percent in Sisamau, 60.80 percent in Khair seat, 71.26 percent in Kundarki seat, 68.65 percent in Mirapur seat, 66.11 percent in Karhal seat, 51.77 percent in Ghaziabad seat, 62.5 percent in Katehri seat, 61.1 percent in Phulpur seat and 61.1 percent in Majhwan seat. There was 60.3 percent voting. SP had won four, BJP three, RLD one and Nishad Party won one seat.
Average 33 percent voting till 1 pm
Voting is taking place on 9 seats in Uttar Pradesh and till 1 pm on average 33 percent voting has taken place. 36.77 percent on Mirapur seat, 31.68 percent on Majhwan seat, 28.80 percent on Khair seat, 26.67 percent on Phulpur seat, 41.01 percent on Kundarki seat, 32.29 percent on Karhal seat, 36.54 percent on Katehari seat, 20.92 percent on Ghaziabad seat, Sisamau seat. But 28.50 percent voting took place. In this way, maximum voting took place in Kundarki seat followed by Meerapur seat while maximum voting took place in Ghaziabad.
If we look at the voting trend of the by-election, voting is increasing in Kundarki, Karhal and Katehari seats held by SP, while voting is decreasing in Khair, Phulpur, Ghaziabad seats held by BJP. Apart from this, voting seems to be fine on the seat held by RLD, whereas there is less voting on the seat held by Nishad Party. Voting is decreasing in Sisamau seat held by SP, whereas in the remaining seats held by it, a fair number of voters are coming out of the houses. Voting in Kundarki seat has been above 70 percent in the last three elections whereas in Ghaziabad seat there was less voting in the last elections also.
Karhal, Sisamau and Kundarki assembly seats have been held by three SPs for a long time. BSP had won Kundarki seat in 2007 and since then SP has been registering victory. BJP is winning Ghaziabad, Phulpur and Khair seats for three consecutive elections. The political mood of Meerapur and Majhwan seats keeps changing with every election, while the mood of Katheri seat changes after two elections. SP had won in 2022 whereas before that BSP had won and SP MLA was elected in 2012.
