Voting is going on for the by-elections being held on 9 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party (SP) has attacked the ruling BJP. He has alleged that the BJP government is committing atrocities on all the by-election seats including Kundarki, Meerapur, Sisamau. Not only this, SP has also targeted the Election Commission and warned it to be prepared for a mass movement against it.

Samajwadi Party tweeted, ‘BJP government is committing atrocities on all the by-election seats including Kundarki, Meerapur, Sisamau and voters are being prevented from voting through the police. Voters should come out of their homes without being afraid of all this, cast their vote and defeat BJP in the elections. The dark misdeeds of the Election Commission have been exposed. The Election Commission should be prepared for a mass movement against itself.

Akhilesh appealed to the Supreme Court

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, ‘There is an appeal to the Honorable Supreme Court and the Election Commission to immediately take cognizance of the video evidence received and take punitive action and also ensure a fair electoral process. Whatever police officers are checking voter cards and Aadhaar IDs, they should be immediately suspended on the basis of the video. Police has no right to check Aadhaar ID card or identity card.

The credibility of CM Yogi and Akhilesh is at stake.

After the Lok Sabha elections, if seen politically, the by-elections of UP are being considered very important because this election is being called the semi-final of the 2027 assembly elections. The credibility of UP CM Yogi Adityanath and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is at stake in the by-elections. Both the leaders have a big challenge to prove themselves. In the 2022 assembly elections, SP had won Sisamau, Katehari, Karhal and Kundarki, while BJP had won Phulpur, Ghaziabad, Majhwan and Khair. Whereas, Meerapur seat was won by BJP’s ally RLD.
