The strategy adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the election campaign of Jharkhand and Maharashtra is now being discussed. In Maharashtra, BJP has organized the maximum number of rallies with Nitin Gadkari and in Jharkhand, Himanta Biswa Sarma has organized the most rallies. Interestingly, both the politicians are not the main contenders for the post of Chief Minister in these states.
In Maharashtra which has 288 assembly seats, BJP is contesting around 160 seats and in Jharkhand which has 81 seats, BJP is contesting on 68 seats.
Jharkhand: Himanta’s more rally from Marandi-Champai
In Jharkhand, which has 81 assembly seats, BJP is contesting on 68 seats. Election co-in-charge and Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has conducted the maximum number of rallies on behalf of the party. Himanta has addressed about 54 rallies in the entire election. After Himanta, Union Minister Shivraj Singh has held an election rally. Shivraj has addressed about 50 rallies.
Along with addressing rallies, Himanta was also doing damage control work. After Himanta and Shivraj, Amit Shah has addressed a total of 16 rallies. UP CM Yogi Adityanath has also held more than 12 rallies.
If we talk about local leaders, Champai remained limited to Ghatsila, Dumka, Jama and Jamtara. Babu Lal Marandi also could not come out of his Dhanwar seat.
Maharashtra: Gadkari beats Fadnavis-Bawankule
The election campaign for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra has ended. On behalf of BJP, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has addressed the maximum number of 72 rallies. Deputy CM and Chief Minister contender Devendra Fadnavis has held a total of 64 rallies. Apart from this, Fadnavis has also participated in the Prime Minister’s rally. BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has held 27 rallies.
If we talk about national level leaders, Narendra Modi addressed 10 rallies, Amit Shah addressed 15 and Yogi Adityanath addressed 11 rallies.
Nana Patole has conducted the maximum rally on behalf of Congress. Patole has addressed 65 rallies. 53 rallies of Sharad Pawar and 44 rallies of Uddhav Thackeray were held across Maharashtra.
Now the question – Why do they have the biggest rally?
Neither Himanta Biswa Sarma in Jharkhand nor Nitin Gadkari in Maharashtra are frontrunners for the post of Chief Minister. In such a situation, the question is arising that then why most of the rallies of these two leaders were organized by BJP?
1. Anti-incumbency issue in Maharashtra
BJP is the biggest stakeholder in power in Maharashtra and it has had to bear the brunt of this in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP has also been accused of breaking parties. Devendra Fadnavis is definitely a big leader, but he does not have influence in entire Maharashtra. There is resentment against him even within the party.
Gadkari remained busy in creating an atmosphere in favor of BJP through anti-incumbency as well as development works. In his rally, Gadkari also praised the work done in road transport departments and its guarantees to the people.
Most of Gadkari’s rallies took place in Vidarbha region. Here Congress is in direct competition with BJP. BJP has suffered a crushing defeat in Vidarbha in the recent Lok Sabha elections. It is being said that to control this damage, Nitin Gadkari was fielded by BJP.
2. Hidden strategy reason with Hindutva
This time BJP has run an aggressive campaign in the Jharkhand elections. The reins of the campaign were in the hands of Himanta Biswa Sarma. BJP made Bangladeshi infiltration and Mati-Beti a big issue here. Two major reasons are being given for Himanta’s biggest rally.
– This time BJP had consolidated all the big leaders of Jharkhand on one or two seats. From the party side, all the leaders were clearly told that you should focus only on your seat. For example, former CM Arjun Munda remained limited to Potka, former CM Champai remained limited to Ghatsila and Seraikela.
Similarly, State President Babu Lal Marandi did not come out of Dhanwar. Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri also remained confined to his seat Chandankyari. Himanta compensated for the lack of regional leaders not being able to campaign.
– Only Himanta was fitting into Hindutva politics. Himanta is also the co-election in-charge of Jharkhand BJP. Himanta decided to work with this strategy after the Lok Sabha elections. This is the reason why Himanta himself has addressed most of the rallies.
