Pollution is spreading in Delhi-NCR. Many measures were taken to stop this, but still there was no relief from pollution. From today, the rules of Grape-4 were implemented in the entire NCR. Entry of trucks and diesel vehicles was banned in Delhi. Traffic police was seen active on Delhi border since morning. Vehicles without checking were not allowed entry. In view of the serious situation of pollution, the Supreme Court ordered the closure of all schools up to 12th in NCR.
Delhi’s air quality crossed the very severe category on Monday and reached the worst level of this season. In the evening, Delhi’s AQI was recorded at 494, which is the highest so far. Doctors are also very worried about this. Doctors warned that poisonous air can not only harm people with health issues, but healthy people can also fall ill due to exposure to this poisonous air.
These vehicles will not be able to enter Delhi
CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management) has issued an order, according to which any truck except trucks carrying essential commodities or using clean fuel (LNG/CNG/BS-VI diesel/electric) will not be allowed to operate in Delhi. Will not be allowed to enter. Light commercial vehicles registered outside Delhi, except electric vehicles (EV), CNG vehicles and BS-VI diesel vehicles, will also be under the ban.
People should not go out without wearing masks – Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has ordered that people in NCR should not leave their homes without wearing masks. At present the demand for air purifiers and masks has increased in Delhi-NCR. Traders say that earlier they used to sell about 20 purifiers every day, sometimes even in two days. Now this number has doubled to 40 per day. Air purifiers have become essential for homes and more than 150 people are coming to buy them every day.
Demand raised to work from home in Central Secretariat
An organization representing Central Secretariat Service (CSS) officers has demanded work from home, staggered working hours and installation of air purifiers in all offices in view of the dangerous deterioration in Delhi’s air quality. He says that at present the pollution situation in Delhi is very dangerous. In such a situation, their health may be adversely affected when they come to office.
Noida DM Manish Verma held a meeting
Meanwhile, Noida DM Manish Verma has formed teams to monitor the rules of Grape-4. The District Magistrate held a meeting with officials of all departments. Schools were instructed to stop outdoor activities. Instructions were given to sprinkle water around schools and stop construction completely. DM told that a team will be formed and monitoring will be done. Action will be taken against those doing construction.
1,251 stubble burning cases reported in Punjab in one day
Today, 1,251 new cases of stubble burning in fields have been reported in Punjab, which is the highest in a single day this season. Regarding stubble burning, Delhi CM Atishi said that the people of Delhi are very worried today. People of Delhi are not able to breathe. I kept getting calls throughout the night last night. Someone had to get the elderly and children admitted to the hospital, because stubble is being burnt across the country. Stubble is being burnt in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan. Will odd even rule be implemented soon?
Currently, the government is also considering imposing odd-even rule in Delhi. After the order of the Supreme Court in Delhi-NCR, schools up to class 12th have been completely closed, but there is still movement of employees in the offices. Delhi government can take decisions like 50% attendance in offices and other emergency measures. But, the big question is whether this is expected to reduce air pollution?
Delhi’s AQI reached 494
Today AQI in Delhi reached near 500. 494 AOIs were recorded in the evening. It is possible that tomorrow the figure of 500 may also be crossed.
