The assembly election campaign in Maharashtra is now in its last phase. Voting will be held on 288 seats in the state on November 20. In such a situation, the campaign will stop 48 hours in advance i.e. on the evening of 18th November. This time the election fight is mainly between two alliances. On one side is the ruling Mahayuti while on the other side is the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi. The leaders of both the alliances are making every possible effort to woo the voters in the election campaign so that they can achieve victory. There is also a situation of doubt regarding the post of Chief Minister in this election. Neither is there any face of the Chief Minister from the Mahayuti side nor has anyone’s name been announced from the Mahavikas Aghadi side.
Since the situation regarding the name of the Chief Minister is not clear, many claimants are being considered for it in both Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi. Talking about Mahayuti, three contenders are being considered for the post of Chief Minister. Almost the same situation prevails on the side of Mahavikas Aghadi also. Here it is said about Uddhav Thackeray that he is already considering himself in the race for the post of CM but no one has taken his name. At the same time, Nana Patole is the biggest face from the Congress side. The same situation has been seen in Sharad Pawar faction’s NCP also. Supriya Sule’s name is in discussion from Sharad group, but the name has not been announced.
The command is definitely in the hands of Shinde, but there are many contenders in the grand alliance.
At present, the command of the government is definitely in the hands of Eknath Shinde, but among the contenders for the post of Chief Minister, NCP leader Ajit Pawar and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis are also in line. Fadnavis has been seen praising Eknath Shinde from time to time, but has not said anything regarding the post of CM yet. Shinde is definitely the Chief Minister, but if Mahayuti wins this election, there is doubt whether his seat will remain intact or not. There are many reasons behind this.
BJP allies prevail in seat sharing
Talking about seat sharing in Mahayuti, BJP is contesting maximum on 149 seats while Shinde faction’s Shiv Sena is contesting on 81 seats and Ajit Pawar’s NCP is contesting on 59 seats. BJP seems to have the upper hand in seat sharing. BJP has more seats than majority. Devendra Fadnavis has also been the Chief Minister from BJP, even though he is in the role of Deputy CM in Shinde government. Therefore, his claim for the post of Chief Minister cannot be denied. However, even two days before voting, all the leaders are silent regarding the post of CM.
Mahavikas Aghadi also has three contenders, but all are silent
The situation is similar in Mahavikas Aghadi also. There are many contenders for the post of CM here, but the leaders of the parties are silent. There is also discussion about the role of women in Mahavikas Aghadi. Sharad Pawar has also said that there is no objection in becoming a woman Chief Minister. After this, discussion has started regarding the name of Supriya Sule. Uddhav Thackeray’s name was also raised initially in the bid to become the chief ministerial candidate. On many occasions he has also been seen decorating the fielding. In terms of seats, all three parties are contesting elections on almost equal number of seats.
Nana Patole is a big face in Congress
In Mahavikas Aghadi, Congress is also silent on the face of the Chief Minister. It is being discussed in the political circles that if it comes to taking the name forward, the party can put forward Nana Patole, but at present everyone’s eyes are on the elections. In Maharashtra, Nana Patole is counted among the senior and powerful leaders of the party. He also identifies himself as a big Marathi leader. In a way, it can be said that there are 6 contenders in the fray for the post of Chief Minister in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
