Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [भारत]July 2 (ANI): Amid increasing repression and widespread security crackdown against civilians in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), the National Anti-Terrorism Front India on Wednesday held a massive demonstration outside the United Nations office. Protesters demanded immediate global intervention to address the growing humanitarian crisis, alleged killings and systemic human rights abuses in the region.

Speaking to the media during the protest, National Anti-Terrorism Front India President Vishal Chopra sharply criticized the international body’s silence on the ongoing atrocities across the Line of Control. National Anti-Terrorism Front India President Vishal Chopra said, “We have come today to protest outside the UN for Bharat Mata. The issues related to our brothers and sisters in POK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) are being ignored; no one is raising their voice, and the UN is sleeping. They have to wake up from this deep sleep and speak for India.”

Chopra emphasized that suffering in the region is not limited to any one religion, saying that “Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians are all being oppressed there equally.”

Before ending the protests, the organization submitted a formal memorandum to the UN, stating that PoJK is an inalienable part of India and urged the global body to protect the local population.

Amnesty International also condemned Pakistan

The public protest in New Delhi comes at a time when there is a severe global backlash against Islamabad for its handling of local discontent. Monitoring group Amnesty International strongly condemned Pakistan’s heavy-handed tactics ahead of the upcoming regional elections in PoJK. Amnesty accused Pakistani authorities of deploying violent measures to suppress peaceful political dissent and violate fundamental human rights, and unlawfully designated the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) as a “proscribed organization”.

Amnesty strongly criticized the ban on JKJAAC, calling it an unjustified attack on freedom of association and peaceful political activism. As local tensions rise ahead of regional elections, activists and watchdog groups alike are pressuring the international community to hold Islamabad accountable. (ANI)
