Agartala (Tripura) [भारत]July 2 (ANI): The Tripura government is preparing a comprehensive blueprint to deliver Central and State welfare schemes faster and more effectively to the Scheduled Caste (SC) communities across the state. The announcement was made by SC Welfare Minister Sudhanshu Das on Wednesday after chairing a state-level review meeting and later addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat in Agartala.
The minister said the government is committed to improving the socio-economic condition of the 34 Scheduled Caste communities in the state by streamlining welfare programmes, strengthening coordination between departments and ensuring timely delivery of benefits to eligible beneficiaries. He stressed that the officials of SC welfare, education, rural development and other departments should work actively for the overall development of SC families and students.
There will be special focus on these schemes
Reviewing the implementation of key schemes, Das said the government is focusing on programs like PM-AJAY, Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, Mukhyamantri Tapashili Jati Vikas Yojana, scholarship schemes, hostel development and skill-based self-employment initiatives. He also proposed district level workshops to improve awareness and implementation of Mukhyamantri Tapashili Jati Vikas Yojana.

Highlighting the performance of the department during the 2025-26 financial year, officials informed that more than 45,000 SC students benefited from pre-matric and post-matric scholarships, while students studying in professional courses were given financial assistance. The government also honored 7,172 students with the Dr. BR Ambedkar Memorial Merit Award.
The minister said that under the Mukhyamantri Tapashili Jati Vikas Yojana, 1,928 beneficiaries received assistance for income-generating activities like poultry farming, duck rearing and small businesses. Development projects worth Rs 72.78 crore are being implemented in Maharajganj fish market and selected water bodies, while 33 villages are being developed under PM-Ajay. He said two SC girls’ hostels have been completed, 119 teachers have been appointed in 32 hostels, and financial assistance has also been provided under the Inter-Caste Marriage Promotion Scheme.
The review meeting was attended by senior officials including SC Welfare Secretary Deepa D Nair, Director-in-charge Bhaswar Bhattacharya, district and sub-divisional welfare officers and representatives of key departments. (ANI)
