In the year 1989, private teacher Manoj Kumar Singh, resident of Sahiyar Dih of Rosra sub-division of Samastipur district of Bihar, had gone to a wedding procession in Simaria, Begusarai, where along with the groom, five other wedding procession boys were forcibly killed at gunpoint. The marriage was done. At that time all five boys were studying. When the wedding procession went back, the villagers were surprised to see five more brides instead of one bride.
Since then, Sahiyar Dih village of Samastipur is called Pakdaua marriage village. Thus, in the 90s, the practice of forcing marriages by force and sometimes at gunpoint started and this marriage was called ‘Pachdoa Shaadi’. This simply means forcing anyone to marry.

According to the villagers, the luck of those who got married changed. Now, when this village was surveyed after 30 years, Subodh Kumar Singh of the village, while giving information, said that when all the five children got married, some of them were studying and some were not, but after marriage, all of them became responsible. And everyone got a job. Among these 5, Rajiv Singh and Dr. Sushil Kumar have passed away. Dharmendra Kumar Singh, Saroj Kumar Singh and the fifth one had got jobs.
