Newborn baby stolen from Delhi, escaped in train… caught by GRP in Bareilly

GRP got a big success in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The girl and her companion, who were running away after stealing a child from Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, have been arrested by the GRP police from train number 14016, Sadbhavna Express. A newborn baby was stolen from Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Friday night. The child was only 45 days old when, with the help of the nursing staff, a man and woman ran away with the newborn.

The hospital’s CCTV camera captured the girl and her partner carrying their child. After which the CCTV footage was sent to all the police stations. Bareilly GRP was also sent. Last night, during checking, GRP recovered the girl Safia, her partner Rohit and the newborn child. After this, when both of them were interrogated, it was revealed that the hospital staff helped them in stealing the child. At present, GRP has handed over both of them to Delhi Police.

45 day old child stolen

On Friday night at around 10 pm, Bareilly GRP was informed by Safdarjung police station that a 45-day-old baby had been stolen from Safdarjung Hospital. The girl and the boy who stole the child were traveling in Anand Vihar-Raxaul Sadbhavna Express. His CCTV footage was also sent to GRP Bareilly. Information along with CCTV footage was sent to Head Constable Sanjeev Kumar and Constable Rajat Kumar of GRP Bareilly, who were running as a squad in the train. After that, based on the information, the squad conducted a checking campaign in the train.

On the basis of information received from Safdarjung police, the GRP squad took into custody the girl and the young man along with the newborn from the coach adjacent to the train manager’s coach. When interrogated, the youth revealed his name as Rohit Kumar, resident of Mohalla Sanjaynagar Banda. The girl revealed her name as Sajia alias Mahi, resident of Nai Basti, Dargah Police Station Cantt, District Moradabad. Bareilly GRP Police has handed over the child to Delhi Police. GRP police is interrogating the accused. The police are also trying to find out whether other children had also been stolen before this.
