Tata made such a car by which the British won the world’s biggest war

Tata Group, which gave India the first indigenous SUV Tata Sierra, the first fully indigenous car Tata Indica, the first 5-star safety rating car Nexon, had once made a car which helped the British win the world’s biggest war. Was. The quality of this car was such that it was named after Tata.

This story dates back to the Second World War, when German ruler Adolf Hitler’s ‘carpet bombing’ from airplanes had spread terror in Europe. The whole of Europe was destroyed and the biggest brunt of it was borne by those countries which were fighting as Allied Powers in World War II.

Prepared 110 types of steel

Tata was the owner of one of the world’s leading steel companies at that time. What we know today as Tata Steel, at that time its company name used to be TISCO. When the Second World War started in 1939, there was a shortage of weapons and vehicles in Europe. There was also a shortage of steel and the British then sought help from the Tata Group.

At that time, it was Tata Group which prepared 110 different varieties of steel for everything from weapons to armored vehicles. Tata Steel had to keep its factory running 24-24 hours and then Tata finally made a car which helped the British win the war.

Tata created ‘Tatanagar’

Tata Group was producing 1000 tonnes of special steel every month at that time. This was a special steel armor plate which was used in making armored vehicles and tanks etc. The work of Tata Group increased so much that it had to set up a separate factory in 1942.

Meanwhile, another task was given to Tata Group to prepare an armored vehicle for the British Government with the help of these armored plates. Then the Tata Group, in collaboration with the Railway Department of the country, prepared a ‘combat car’. This was to be used in war.

Ford V8 engine was installed in this car, which it got from the Railways. An armored vehicle was prepared by covering it with armor plate made in Tata Steel. It was named ‘Indian Pattern Carrier’, but actually it was popularly known as ‘Tatanagar’ because it was manufactured in Jamshedpur. Jamshedpur is also known as Tatanagar.
