Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): An MP-MLA court in Gwalior has issued an arrest warrant against Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari. This matter is related to a comment made during the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign.
The matter is that the Patwari had allegedly given a statement in Bhind in April 2024. In this, he had accused Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Devashish Jararia of collusion and money transactions with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to influence the elections.

- After this, Ashok Gupta, representative of BSP candidate Devashish Jararia, lodged an FIR against Patwari at Umri police station in Bhind on May 4, 2024. A notice was issued to Jitu Patwari to appear in the court on January 16, 2026, but he did not appear in the court.
- Government lawyer Dharmendra Sharma told ANI, “This case is related to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Ashok Gupta, representative of BSP candidate Devashish Jararia, has filed a complaint at Umri police station in Bhind, alleging that the Patwari had accused the BSP candidate of colluding with BJP to influence the elections. This case is going on in the MP-MLA court and despite several summons and bailable warrants, the accused could not appear in the court. Now, the court has Arrest warrant has been issued against him.
Court fixed 27th date
The lawyer said that the court has directed the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bhind to ensure the appearance of Jitu Patwari in the court by July 27. Sharma said, “Earlier also several summons and bailable warrants were issued. But he could not appear. Therefore, the court has now issued an arrest warrant. The court has fixed July 27 for hearing the case and efforts will be made to ensure his appearance.”

Lawyer Dharmendra Sharma further said that if the Congress leader fails to appear again, the court can issue a permanent arrest warrant or red warrant. Once such a warrant is issued, it becomes the responsibility of the police to arrest the accused. After July 27, the court can again issue an arrest warrant or proceed with a red warrant against him.
