Under Service Matter LG, till the new policy is made, bus marshals should be appointed as before – Atishi

The controversy over the appointment of more than 10 thousand marshals who were removed from buses in the capital Delhi is not stopping. There is a lot of politics going on regarding this issue. Meanwhile, Chief Minister of the state Atishi has said that this is a matter of service and public order. Which comes under the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. He said that LG should make a policy regarding the appointment of these bus marshals who have been roaming unemployed for a year. Till the new policy is made, all these marshals should be deployed in the buses like before, so that women and elderly people can get a safe environment in the buses.

Chief Minister Atishi said during a press conference that ever since Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi in 2015, many steps have been taken regarding the safety of women. The APP government has done many things like CCTV, appointment of bus marshals and safety of women.

Atishi’s attack on BJP

Atishi said that bus travel is difficult for women. To prevent indecency from happening to them, home guards and bus marshals were deployed in two shifts since 2015, but in 2023, BJP conspired through its officers and created hurdles and finally in October 2023, the bus marshals were removed.

CM said that for the last one year these bus marshals were struggling on the streets, our ministers and MLAs stood with them and took the baton. In the end this struggle worked, the central government relented and these marshals are being appointed for 4 months. He said that due to the absence of these bus marshals, women and elderly people have faced a lot of problems in the buses.

‘Proposal has been sent to LG’

Further, CM Atishi said that a cabinet meeting was held on Sunday 10th November, in which it was decided that this is the policy of the bus marshals. This is a public order matter because of service and security. This does not come under Delhi Government but under LG. When the Transport Department told this, all the ministers sent a proposal to the LG to appoint these bus marshals in two shifts.

Atishi said that in yesterday’s meeting it was also decided that it may take 6 months for the LG to make a new proposal, but till then the safety of women cannot be compromised. LG should appoint these 10 thousand bus marshals till October 2023. CM said that she hopes that LG approves this proposal, so that they get employment and women get security.

‘Delhi government will give budget’

CM Atishi also said that Delhi government will provide whatever money and budget is required for whatever policy is made, this is the commitment of our government. He said that right now we are waiting for the approval of LG Saheb. The file was sent on Friday itself. As soon as the file arrives, it will be implemented within 2 days.

‘LG should make a policy on this’

Meanwhile, Delhi government minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that it was unanimously decided in the Delhi Assembly that on October 3, the bus marshals would be approached to the Lieutenant Governor for appointment. APP MLA and bus marshal kept waiting but BJP MLA did not come. The police also used batons there.

Further, he said that on October 5, Chief Minister Vijendra Gupta asked for an appointment and said that if the Delhi government passes the proposal, he will get it passed by the LG. We took Vijendra Gupta to LG, he said that the proposal will be passed in 1 week but it did not happen. LG slapped him again and asked him to send the proposal again.

Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the Transport Department official said that this is a service matter, then the Cabinet said that LG should make a policy on this, but we know their way of working. It may take years. So keep working as you were doing before. LG restore them immediately. The minister said that these are very poor people and many have even committed suicide. Don’t do politics on these.
