The woman says that the assault and indecent behavior with her started from the very next day of the marriage. The situation became worse even during the honeymoon. Eventually, after returning to Noida, he lodged a complaint with the police.
Husband accused of assault after marriage
27-year-old Sucharita Saha alleges that she married Harvinder Chauhan on April 30. After marriage, her husband started living in her house in Noida. The woman said in her complaint that her husband started beating her the very next day of their marriage. She alleges that her husband used to abuse her daily and physically harass her.
Claim of violence continuing even during honeymoon
Four days after the wedding, on May 4, the couple went to Sikkim and Darjeeling for their honeymoon. The woman alleges that her husband’s violent behavior continued there too. She says that during an incident that took place in the hotel on May 9, her husband pushed her down the stairs. Due to this, he suffered serious injuries on both his knees, head and back. The woman also alleged that during this time the husband threatened to kill her.
After complaining to the police, again accused of assault
The woman says that when both of them returned to Noida on May 10, she told them to lodge a complaint with the police. On this the husband again beat her. According to the complaint, the husband threw her mobile phone on the ground, kicked her in the stomach and attacked her with punches and slaps. The woman alleges that during this time she was also threatened with death if she went to the police.
After the incident the accused left the house
According to the woman, after this incident the accused husband left their house in Noida and went to his parents’ house in Delhi. After this the woman lodged an FIR with the police on 28 May. On the basis of the woman’s complaint, the police have registered a case under relevant sections and started investigation. Police officials say that the matter is being investigated impartially. Further legal action will be taken based on whatever facts emerge during the investigation.
