After a seven-year break, the 2024-2025 edition of the HIL is poised to captivate fans with an action-filled return.

This revitalization is highlighted by the introduction of a new website dedicated to the league, hockeyindialeague.com, which serves as a comprehensive platform for fans around the globe. Here, enthusiasts can find the latest updates, detailed player rosters, match schedules, and exclusive video content designed to enhance the fan experience and keep them connected with every facet of the league.

A significant highlight of this eagerly awaited season is the opening match on 28 December, which will see Delhi SG Pipers clash with Gonasika at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. This match not only kicks off the men’s league but also signals the beginning of a series of matches designed to bring the best of hockey to fans across the country. The women’s league, starting on 12 January 2025 in Ranchi at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium, promises equally thrilling action, concluding with a final showdown on 26 January.

The structure of the competition is meticulously planned to ensure a captivating experience for spectators and unpredictable outcomes.

The men’s league is divided into two phases, with Phase 1 running from 28 December to 18 January, where all teams compete against each other. Phase 2 begins on 19 January, splitting the teams into two pools for more intense competition, leading up to the semifinals on 31 January and the grand finale on 1 February 2025.

Pool A: Delhi SG Pipers, Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers, Soorma Hockey Club, Vedanta Kalinga Lancers

Pool B: Gonasika, Hyderabad Toofans, Tamil Nadu Dragons, UP Rudras

In contrast, the women’s teams will engage in a round-robin format, ensuring each team faces off twice before the top two battle it out in the final.

Dr. Dilip Tirkey, Chairperson of the Hockey India League Governing Committee, expressed excitement about the league’s return.

“We are thrilled to reintroduce the HIL after a seven-year hiatus. This season promises high-caliber matches and intense competition, showcasing the best of Indian and international hockey talent. The launch of our new website brings fans closer to the action, but the true thrill lies in the journey ahead,” he said.
