Virat Kohli: Team India’s two biggest batsmen of the last decade said goodbye to the shortest format of cricket after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. All the players want to end their career by winning the ICC trophy. But most players do not get a chance to bid farewell with a trophy. Some players of Team India may not get a chance to play T20 during Gautam Gambhir’s tenure, due to which they may retire from T20 cricket.

KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Shami may retire due to not getting a chance in the team. Rahul has been out of the team since the 2022 T20 World Cup and it is unlikely that he will return to the team soon, due to which Rahul may retire from T20 cricket.

If we talk about Rahul’s T20 career, Rahul has scored 2265 runs in 72 T20 matches at an average of 37 and strike rate of 140. Which includes 22 fifties and 2 half-centuries.

Shreyas’s performance in T20 is ordinary

Shreyas Iyer is also out of the T20 team from the year 2022, after which it seems difficult for him to return to the team, due to which he may retire. If we look at Shreyas’ T20 career, Shreyas has scored 1104 runs in 51 matches at an average of 30 and strike rate of 136. In which he has scored 8 half-centuries.

Mohammed Shami is also troubled by injury and has not been seen on the field since the last World Cup. Shami has been injured since the final of the World Cup 2023 and during this period he has also missed many matches. Whereas Shami last played a match for Baat in the 2022 T20 World Cup, after which he was not given a chance in the T20 team and now due to injuries, he may leave one format.

Shami may soon retire from T20 cricket. If we look at Shami’s T20 career, he has played 23 matches so far, in which he has taken 24 wickets at an economy of around 9.
