The family took him to the hospital, but the innocent child died.

Karthik, one and a half year old son of Raj Sahni, resident of Tola Basantpur, Nakaha number one of Chiluatal police station area, had gone to his grandmother’s house with his mother Madhu. Nani’s house is in Bankata of Gorakhnath police station area. He was playing outside the door late in the evening, while his mother was doing some work inside. Meanwhile, the street dog attacked the innocent child after seeing him alone. He started biting the innocent child at various places.

Hearing the sound of the child screaming, the mother and other people came out of the house and saw that the one and a half year old child was lying in a bloody condition. The street dog is biting him badly. The family immediately reached BRD Medical College with the innocent child. Innocent Karthik’s maternal uncle Vishal Sahni told that the doctors of BRD Medical College said that wherever the dog has bitten, wash and clean it thoroughly and come after two days only then there will be medicine. After that we took him to a private hospital. There the doctor administered two injections of tetanus and started other treatments.

Uncle told that after some time my nephew’s health started deteriorating further. He died at around 1 o’clock in the night. He says that the doctor was very negligent in the treatment, due to which my nephew died. After the incident, the family members of the innocent child were very angry, but the police reached the information and calmed everyone down.

A similar incident had narrowly missed happening on 24th August in the locality of Shahpur police station area. At that time too a street dog had attacked an innocent person. It was a good coincidence that at that time a young man was passing by. Showing agility, he immediately saved the innocent child with his efforts. Otherwise, at that time also something untoward would have happened. Not only this, a few months ago a street dog attacked the mother of a judge in the Judges Compound of Cantt police station area. It was morning. Some people had gone out for a walk and they saved him. People are getting injured in street dog attacks at many places in the city.

On an average, 125 people are coming to the district hospital every day to get anti-rabies injection. This means that street dogs have become quite aggressive, but those responsible are not taking any care. On the other hand, people say that the government has given the responsibility of catching street dogs to the Municipal Corporation, but it is not doing anything. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal says that the Animal Birth Care Control Center is ready in Gulriha, Gorakhpur. It will be inaugurated soon and after that the number of street dogs will start reducing.

Regarding the aggressiveness of street dogs, Chief Veterinary Officer of the Zoo, Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh said that street dogs often become loose due to hunger and thirst. Currently their breeding season is going on. In such a situation, due to hormonal changes they also become aggressive. Not only this, street dogs also attack due to fear and terror. They also become aggressive to protect their resources and territory. He can still attack if he is sick or injured. To control them, sterilization is necessary.
