Just a few hours after Team India’s clean sweep in the Test series at the hands of New Zealand, another big news came out. This news was about the announcement of retirement of Indian wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha. The 40 year old veteran cricketer decided to put an end to his 17 year long career. He announced that he will say goodbye to cricket after the current season of Ranji Trophy. In his career of 17 years, Saha played domestic cricket for Bengal for 15 years and for Tripura for 2 years.
Will play the last match in the current season of Ranji Trophy
Saha has described his cricket journey as wonderful. Saha, who played for Tripura in the last two Ranji seasons, returned to Bengal again in August this year. According to what Saha said while announcing his retirement, he will play his last match in the current Ranji season only.
After a cherished journey in cricket, this season will be my last. Im honored to represent Bengal one final time, playing only in the Ranji Trophy before I retire. Let’s make this season one to remember! pic.twitter.com/sGElgZuqfP

Could not play 50th match for Team India!
Saha made his debut for Team India in the year 2010, amidst an overall cricket career of 17 years. He represented India in 40 test matches. Also played 9 ODIs. That means he remained one step away from playing the 50th international match of his career in Team India’s jersey.
