Ingredients to make Tomato and Date Chutney
- 250 grams ripe red tomatoes
- 7-8 ripe dates
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- Fennel
- Cumin
- Fenugreek
- nigella seeds
- 100 grams sugar
- Mustard
- 2 whole dry red chillies
Tomato and Date Chutney Recipe
- First of all, wash the tomatoes and cut four pieces from the top but the tomatoes should remain attached at the bottom.
- – Now boil water in a pan, add tomatoes in it and cover and cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
- – When the water cools down, peel the tomatoes.
- All the tomatoes will be peeled easily.
- – Now cut the tomatoes into thick pieces.
- – Add 2 tablespoons mustard oil in a pan.
- – Now add panchphoran or mustard, cumin, fenugreek, nigella and fennel in oil and mix.
- – Cook for some time and add 2 whole dry red chillies.
- – Now add chopped tomatoes and add salt on top.
- Cover the tomatoes and cook on medium flame for 2 minutes.
- – When the tomatoes dissolve, crush them gently and add 100 grams of sugar.
- Remove seeds from dates and cut them into long pieces.
- You can also add chopped mango papad to it.
- – Now cover this chutney and cook for 4 minutes.
- Turn off the gas and when it cools down, take out the chutney.
- Whole dates can also be added to this chutney.
- It can be easily kept in the fridge and consumed for 10-15 days.
