BJP MLA and sitting MLA from Nagrota assembly constituency of Jammu region Devendra Singh Rana died late night on Thursday (31 October). According to sources, he died in Delhi. PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the demise of Devendra Singh Rana. He posted on social media handle X and said, I am shocked to hear about the demise of Devinder Rana ji. He also expressed his condolences towards him.
Devendra Singh Rana died in a hospital in Faridabad. BJP spokesperson Sajid Yusuf said, Rana was a prominent political figure of Jammu and Kashmir. BJP and its supporters are shocked by his death.
Had achieved bumper victory in the elections
Devendra Rana is a famous name in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir. He had won a bumper victory on BJP ticket from Nagrota seat in the assembly elections held in the valley after 10 years. He had secured 48113 votes, while his rival Joginder Singh of National Conference had got only 17641 votes. With this, Devendra Rana not only saved his own credibility but also won for the party by more than 30 thousand votes.

Left NC and joined BJP
Devendra Rana was also quite ahead in business. Besides, he also raised his name in politics. He had good influence in Nagrota seat. He has been MLA from Rana Nagrota seat thrice. Devendra Singh Rana was a part of the National Conference, but in the year 2021, giving a big blow to NC, he left the party and joined BJP. For the first time after joining BJP, Devendra Singh Rana worked his magic in the assembly elections held in 2024 and once again won and added Nagrota seat to the party’s account.
