Diwali, the festival of lights, is being celebrated with great pomp in the country. People are bursting crackers in full swing. Diwali is also being celebrated in Delhi. But due to bursting of fireworks at night, the air of the national capital Delhi has become poisonous. Delhi’s air quality index has reached very poor category. There is fog everywhere. At 11 pm, the air quality index of many areas of Delhi including Jahangirpuri, RK Puram, Pusa, Srinivaspuri, Anand Vihar reached between 500 and 900.
Apart from Delhi, Diwali firecrackers have polluted the air of NCR areas. Vasundhara of Ghaziabad, Sanjay Nagar, Sector-116, Sector-125, Sector-62 of Noida reached the red zone. At 11 pm the AQI here was recorded in the poor to very poor category. The outside air remains extremely polluted. It doesn’t seem to be improving till morning.

The air in Delhi has remained poisonous since Dussehra. The air quality index continues to remain in the poor category. There was slight improvement in the situation two days before Diwali. But, the fear of increase in AQI on Diwali came true. Jahangirpuri area of Delhi has been badly affected due to pollution caused by firecrackers.
Air becomes dangerous in these areas of Delhi
According to aqicn.org, Jahangirpuri’s AQI was recorded at 999 at 11 pm. Apart from this, 807 in RK Puram, 800 in Pusa, 709 in Srinivaspuri, 600 in DITE Okhla, 534 in Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range area, 512 in Mother Dairy Plant Padparganj, 408 in American Embassy New Delhi, 434 in Anand Vihar and Satyawati College. 403 AQI was recorded. Red zone areas of Ghaziabad-Noida
According to aqicn.org, the air quality index reached 999 at 11 pm in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad. AQI 566 was recorded in Sanjay Nagar. Apart from this, AQI reached 961 in Noida Sector 116, 846 in Sector 125 and the air quality index reached very poor category 958 in Sector-62.
