The Congress party has suffered a big setback in Delhi. Zubair Ahmed, son of former MLA and Congress leader Chaudhary Mateen Ahmed, and his wife Shagufta Chaudhary joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Both joined Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of Arvind Kejriwal. Zubair Ahmed has been the District President of Babarpur while his wife Shagufta Chaudhary is a councilor from Congress.
Assembly elections are going to be held in Delhi early next year. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has already started preparations. The party is also busy expanding its clan in those areas where it has to strengthen itself further. Chaudhary Matin Aham has been counted among the big leaders of Delhi Congress. He has also been an MLA from Seelampur area. Now his family left Congress and joined AAP.

Chaudhary Matin Ahmed has been MLA from Seelampur seat from 1993 to 2015. Now after his son has joined Aam Aadmi Party, there is speculation that Aam Aadmi Party can make Zubair Ahmed a candidate from Seelampur seat. This is a seat where there are a good number of Muslim voters. Aam Aadmi Party also needed such a face in this area.

On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Seelampur Abdul Rehman has resigned from the post of Minority Cell President. Abdul Rehman said that I am resigning from the post of President of Minority Cell of Aam Aadmi Party. He said that in view of the increasing difference in opinions, I have taken this decision. Hopefully the party and supporters will understand my step.
