Malpe Beach

This beach is located at a distance of 66 km from Mangalore and 6 km from Udupi. Malpe Beach Basic is a natural harbour, which is very useful for the Mogaveera fishermen settled here. There are four rocky islands on this coast of Karnataka. The northernmost island is Dariya-Bahadurgarh, the middle is Dariya-Gadra-Kallu, while the southernmost island is Kari-Illada-Kallu. The fourth rocky island is St. Mary’s Island.

Located between Mangalore and Udupi city, Kaup Beach is a very old and unique beach. Because of this its beauty remains intact even today. Sitting here peacefully for some time gives a feeling of a different kind of peace. There is a lighthouse built in 1901, which is open to tourists daily from 5:30 to 6:30 am. The view of the ocean from the top of the lighthouse is spectacular. There are also many hotels and guesthouses around the beach.
