Upon release, it was also speculated that an unfinished movie was released in theatres. The thriller became Bollywood’s biggest flop ever.

The Lady Killer became one of the most talked about movies of last year, but for all the wrong reasons. The story of the film follows the life of a small-town man, Rajender Joshi (Arjun Kapoor), who runs a pharmacy in Nainital. Stuck in a rut, Joshi is desperate to open a diagnostic centre but is not able to fund the same. Out of desperation, he lands in the residence of a former prince, Vikram Burman who is currently bedridden.

Joshi meets and falls in love with Vikram’s daughter Jansey (Bhumi Pednekar). However, their romance takes a dark turn when Rajender comes to know that Vikram has been sexually assaulting Jansey. As a consequence, the couple plan to murder Vikram.

How did The Lady Killer become one of Bollywood’s biggest flop?

The Arjun Kapoor -Bhumi Pednekar starrer was made on a budget of ₹45 crore. As per reports, the movie could manage to rake in only ₹0.01 crore in its lifetime theatrical run. This made the film one of the biggest box office disasters of all time in Indian cinema.

As a consequence, no OTT platform was ready to acquire the film’s streaming rights, not even local streaming services. The makers had to resort to releasing the full movie for free on YouTube. The film has 2,482,098 views on YouTube.
