Politics heated up over custodial death of youth in Lucknow’s Chinhat, Priyanka and Mayawati attacked the government

The politics of Uttar Pradesh has heated up after the death of Mohit Pandey in police custody. While Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak has termed the incident as tragic and assured action, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and former CM Mayawati have attacked the Uttar Pradesh government for the custodial death.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said on the incident of custodial death that the incident that happened yesterday is very sad. The government has taken the incident very seriously. The government stands with the victim’s family. Strict action will be taken against those who are guilty, now an FIR has been lodged against the accused and there will also be suspension.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted on social sites and said that Lucknow Police in UP first detained two youths. The next morning one of them died. This is the second incident of death in the custody of UP Police in a fortnight. After this incident, the family members alleged that the police had murdered their son.

He said that UP ranks first in the entire country in terms of custodial deaths. BJP has established such a jungle raj in the state. Here police has become synonymous with cruelty. He said that where the guardians of the law are taking lives, then from whom should the public expect justice?

Strict action should be taken against criminals: Mayawati

Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and BSP leader Mayawati said that it is natural for there to be anger and resentment among the family and people over the alleged death of businessman Mohit Pandey in police custody in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. This incident is highly condemnable. The government must take effective steps to provide justice to the victim’s family.

He further wrote that apart from this, the daily incidents of atrocities against women in the state are very worrisome, on which the government should take strict legal action against such criminals, which is extremely important.

Know what the incident said

32-year-old businessman Mohit Pandey died in police custody on Saturday. Mohit was taken to Chinhat police station in Lucknow after a dispute over a trivial matter with his neighbor Adesh Kumar, where he died.

After that an FIR has been registered against the Station House Officer (SHO) and others on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy. He has been removed from the post.

After Mohit’s death, local people protested demanding action against the police and others allegedly involved. Mohit’s family claimed that he was brutally beaten by the police on the orders and behest of his uncle, a political leader.
