A young man died in police custody at Chinhat police station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. On the death of the youth, the family members alleged that the police beat the youth to death. This entire matter is related to Chinhat police station. The name of the deceased youth is Mohit Pandey. After the death of the young man, the family members created a ruckus. On the complaint of the victim’s family, a case has been registered against 4 including the Inspector.
In the CCTV footage of the lockup of Chinhat police station that has surfaced, it is seen that Mohit Pandey is lying on the ground in the lockup. A young man lodged in the same lockup is seen caressing his back. At the same time, another young man is seen asking for help from someone at the gate of the lockup. At first glance, seeing the CCTV footage shows that Mohit was in an uncomfortable situation in the lockup.

On Friday, the police had detained Mohit and his brother Shobharam. The reason for this was a fight between children. According to the police, when Mohit was being taken to court on Saturday, his health deteriorated. He was immediately admitted to Lohia Hospital, where he died.
The family members are not able to digest the police theory regarding Mohit’s death. According to Mohit’s uncle, at the behest of a leader, Mohit was beaten so badly in police custody that he died. He was kept in lockup overnight and beaten by the police.
The deceased’s mother Tapeshwari Devi has also complained to the ADCP in this matter. It is mentioned in this complaint that the police had brought the youth named Mohit and Aadesh to the police station on Friday. When Mohit’s brother Shobharam came to know about this, the police also locked him in the lockup. Alleged that Shobharam was drunk. At the same time, the police left the party with whom the dispute took place. During this time the police beat Mohit throughout the night. The mother alleges that her son was murdered in police custody.
