Elder sister changed life
Veena Nagda told in the show that the biggest credit for her success goes to her elder sister. Initially she used to do embroidery work, but her sister advised her to convert the same skill into mehndi designs. This decision proved to be the turning point of his career.
A praise from Poonam Dhillon boosted our morale.
Veena told that when she started applying mehendi professionally for the first time, actress Poonam Dhillon came to her to get mehendi applied. At that time, there was not even a TV in his house and he used to get information by reading newspapers from the neighborhood. Veena recalled that she applied mehendi on one of Poonam Dhillon’s hands, after which the actress praised her design wholeheartedly. These words settled in her heart and she decided at that very moment that she would now make Mehndi her profession.
From Rs 6 to becoming Bollywood’s ‘Mehndi Queen’
Veena told that in the initial days she used to charge only Rs 6-7. She herself also felt that her mehendi was not that good at that time, but Poonam Dhillon’s appreciation gave her confidence. Gradually the discussion about his work increased and orders started coming. Her first big break came when she was invited to the functions of film families after seeing her intricate mehndi designs at a wedding. It was from here that his identity started forming in Bollywood.
The talent reached Deepika Padukone’s wedding
Veena Nagda told that she has applied mehendi to many big stars including Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty. She revealed that she had also gone to Lake Como in Italy for Deepika Padukone’s wedding. Apart from this, her relationship with the Kapoor family is more than three decades old and even today Sunita Kapoor gets her mehendi applied by them on Karva Chauth.
