‘Ghajini’ was not only in the news for Aamir’s tremendous transformation and his look, but this film was also in the news for the debut of an actress. The name of this actress was Asin. Asin debuted in Bollywood with the same film which gave her recognition in the South Industry. Asin had played the same character of Kalpana in South’s ‘Ghajini’ and in Aamir’s ‘Ghajini’ too, Asin was playing the same character of Kalpana, but still she did something that she is remembered even today.

First know about Asin’s journey…
Let’s start with Asin’s name. Asin’s full name is Asin Thottumkal. Asin was born in the year 1985 in Kochi, Kerala. Very few people know that Asin knows many languages. She also speaks Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Sanskrit, English and French. Asin started her career at the age of 15 with Sathyan Anthikkad’s Malayalam film ‘Narendran Makaan Jayakanthan Vaka’. The amazing thing is that just two years after her debut, Asin did a film for which she received the Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actress. This film was the 2003 Telugu film ‘Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi’, after which Asin became a big name in South cinema.
Received SIIMA for contribution to Tamil cinema
In the year 2005, Asin also entered Tamil cinema and with her third film, she joined the list of South’s biggest actresses. Seeing Kalpana’s character dying on screen in the Tamil film ‘Ghajini’ impressed everyone. In the year 2013, Asin was honored with the SIIMA i.e. ‘Pride of South Indian Cinema’ award for her contribution to Tamil cinema, which was a matter of pride in itself. When Asin entered Bollywood, no one knew her much here, but overnight Asin started ruling people’s hearts with just one film. The scene of Kalpana dying on screen still troubles people. Now I don’t know if this scene is so special because it was shot like this or because of Asin’s acting, but even today when this film comes and this scene comes, everyone wishes that Sanjay Singhania would pick up the phone.
Why was Asin’s Bollywood debut so special?
After the success of Ghajini, Asin gave many such films which were liked by the people. After this, in the year 2009, Asin worked with Salman and Ajay Devgan in London Dreams. 2011 was the most successful year of Asin’s Bollywood career, as she starred opposite Salman Khan in Anees Bazmee’s romantic comedy Ready. The film was also a major box office hit, earning ₹1.84 billion (US$22 million) worldwide. In 2012, Asin worked for the first time in Sajid Khan’s multi-starrer film ‘Housefull 2’ opposite Khiladi Kumar Akshay. Asin did back to back Bollywood films and made a name for herself. She worked with Ajay Devgan in Bol Bachchan and with Akshay in Khiladi 786, which was very successful commercially. The 2015 film ‘All is Well’ was his last film, after which he suddenly left the film industry.
Where is Asin now?
Actually, Khiladi Kumar and Asin had become very good friends. At a party, Akshay introduced Asin to a friend whose name was Rahul Sharma. Asin’s career was at its peak at that time. Asin looked at Rahul and Rahul looked at her. There was a conversation and then the love affair started. Rahul is the CEO of the famous company Macromax. It is said that Akshay had acted as Cupid to take forward the love story of Rahul and Asin.
After this both of them got married in Delhi in the year 2016. The couple got married according to Christian and Hindi customs. After marriage, Asin shared a post on social media and said that she is leaving the showbiz industry forever, because now she wants to focus on her personal life. Even today Asin is living a happy life away from Bollywood. She and Rahul have a daughter named Arin. However, Asin remains very active on social media. She often posts her photos or videos with her husband Rahul and daughter, which her fans like very much.
