Team India has been announced for the test series against Australia. BCCI announced Team India for this tour on Friday 25 October. At present, the Indian team is busy in the Test series against New Zealand, where its condition is poor. Amidst all this, the board has selected 18 players for the Australia tour next month. Team India has to play 5 test matches on this tour. Some special things have been seen in this selection, in which the selection of KL Rahul despite his poor form and giving rest to Kuldeep Yadav is important. Let us tell you some such special things related to the selection of Team India in a few points.
Important points of selection for Australia tour
- The selection committee has not selected Mohammed Shami for the entire tour. That means the selection committee is not satisfied with his fitness status and hence has not talked about calling him even in the middle of the series anywhere in its announcement.
- Middle order batsman KL Rahul, who was struggling with poor form, has managed to retain his place. Rahul was dropped from the playing eleven of the Pune Test after his failure in the Bengaluru Test, but the selection committee still has confidence in him.
- Meanwhile, spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who is part of Team India in the Test series against New Zealand, will not go on the Australia tour. The board has told that he is suffering from groin pain and will work on curing it in BCCI’s new Center of Excellence.
- Meanwhile, spin all-rounder Akshar Patel, who was in the Test squad against New Zealand, has been dropped from the tour. Akshar has also not got a chance in the series against New Zealand and has been dropped due to lack of much need for spinners in Australia.
- However, Washington Sundar’s place remains intact for Team India in the Pune Test, who has taken 7 wickets in the first innings and 4 wickets in the second innings so far. Sundar was also a part of the team in the last Australia tour and played an important role in winning the Brisbane Test by debuting there.
- The selection committee has given a chance to experienced Bengal batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran as a backup opener after almost 3 years. Easwaran has scored runs consistently in the last several domestic seasons. Apart from this, he has also scored centuries in Duleep Trophy, Irani Cup and Ranji Trophy recently.
- At the same time, two new players have been entered in the Test team for the first time. After the IPL, 22-year-old young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy from Andhra Pradesh, who performed brilliantly in the T20 series against Bangladesh, has been selected. At the same time, Delhi fast bowler Harshit Rana has also got a chance keeping in mind his fast pace.
