Violation of code of conduct in Maharashtra, money worth crores seized before elections

The code of conduct is being continuously violated in Maharashtra. Money worth crores has been seized from many places before the elections. The latest case is of Hingoli. One crore 40 lakh 35 thousand rupees were seized in Hingoli. The Local Crime Branch of Hingoli District Police took this action. Money was seized in two vehicles near Hingoli bus depot. The money was brought in yellow colored bags in both the vehicles.

The money was brought from Kalamnuri area. Investigation revealed that this amount was withdrawn from a private bank. The money and the vehicle have been confiscated. The investigation into the matter is ongoing as to whose money it is, who brought it and from where and what was it going to be used for?


This is not the first case of confiscation of money amid the code of conduct. Officials said that law enforcement agencies have seized goods worth Rs 52 crore in the last 24 hours. Ever since the election dates were announced, agencies have seized goods worth Rs 90.74 crore across Maharashtra. So far, more than 1100 complaints of code of conduct violation have been registered through the CVigil app.

Of these, 99 percent have been settled. The Election Commission has launched the CVigil app to help citizens report violations of the code of conduct. Voting for 288 assembly seats of Maharashtra is on November 20 in a single phase. The results will be declared on 23 November.
