As BTS’ Jin gears up for his highly anticipated solo comeback with the album HAPPY and pre-release single I’ll Be There, following the phenomenal success of his hit single Super Tuna, he takes center stage as the cover star of Vogue Japan’s December issue, commemorating the magazine’s 25th anniversary.
Beyond the stunning visuals, Jin delved into an introspective conversation with the publication, sharing reflections on his life and career.
During the interview, Jin was posed a thought-provoking question: “How does your creative mindset shift between performing and songwriting as a member of BTS versus pursuing solo projects?” Jin’s response offers a rare glimpse into the artistic evolution of one of Kpop’s most beloved stars.
He said, “When I work solo I have to do everything by myself. So I have a lot of freedom and can do what I want, but at the same time I also feel a sense of pressure. In the group, even if I’m lacking in some areas I’m reassured because the members are there with me, so I’m more relaxed.”
Talking about his significant memory when he was 25 and what advice he’d give his younger self, Jin said, “When I was 25, I was so busy with work that I’d sometimes complain about it. I wish I could tell my younger self that thinking like that doesn’t help, but honestly, I don’t think it would have made a difference.”
He further explained, “As I’ve gotten older, my mindset has naturally changed. I’m sure that 10 years from now, I’ll probably want to give my current self a talking-to as well (laughs).”
