Mathura Bus Accident: A Volvo bus collided with a trailer due to high speed on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura in the early hours of Monday. In this accident, four people including three bus staff and one passenger died, while about 25 people are injured.
Mathura (Uttar Pradesh): A tragic accident took place on Yamuna Expressway early on Monday morning. Here a Volvo bus rammed into a trailer from behind. Four people died in the collision, including three staff members and a passenger of the bus. About 25 other passengers were injured in the accident. According to the police, the accident occurred at around 3:35 am near Milestone 112 in Raya police station area.

There were 65 passengers in the bus
- Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat said that there were about 65 passengers in the bus. The bus was traveling at very high speed and collided with a trailer running in the third lane from behind.
- Rawat told ANI, “We received information about the accident at 3:35 in the morning. A green corridor was immediately created from the accident site to the hospital so that the injured could get treatment as soon as possible. Four people have died and 19 are undergoing treatment. The entire administration team is present at the spot.”
- Later, district officials updated the information, saying that the dead included three bus staff and one passenger, while the number of injured has increased to around 25.
Know how this accident happened
- Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar said that preliminary investigation has revealed that at the time of the accident, it was not the main driver of the bus but the co-driver.
- The SSP said, “The co-driver was driving the bus at a very high speed. He lost control of the vehicle, after which the bus collided with the trailer moving ahead. The matter is being investigated in depth.”
- After the accident, Mathura District Magistrate (DM) Chandra Prakash and SSP Shlok Kumar reached the district hospital. He met the injured passengers there and took stock of the treatment arrangements.
- The DM directed the hospital administration to provide the best treatment to the injured.
- The administration has also said that transport arrangements will be made to take the passengers who have been discharged from the hospital or who are in a condition to travel, to their homes.
