IPL all-rounder Shashank Singh and his retired IPS father Shailesh Singh have been accused of assaulting a domestic help. On the complaint of the victim, Bhopal Police has registered an FIR on charges of abuse, assault and hostage-taking. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.

Bhopal Police has registered this case after her domestic help complained of assault, abuses and illegal confinement.

The driver of the family has also been made a co-accused in the copy of the FIR, which is being actively investigated by the Ratibad police. The case was registered at Ratibad police station on Monday based on a complaint lodged by victim Vipendra Singh Tomar (31). Vipendra, a resident of Rewa district, worked as a cook at the family home in Mendori village of Bhopal.

Was lured by job and government job

According to the written complaint lodged by cook Vipendra Singh, he was recently brought to Bhopal from Rewa through an acquaintance. He was promised that he would get a monthly salary of Rs 15,000 and free accommodation and food facilities at the former police officer’s Nilbad bungalow. Besides, assurance was also given of help in getting a government job in future.

However, the complainant alleged that within hours of starting the job, he faced intense mental pressure and abuse. The situation reportedly deteriorated rapidly after complaints regarding the quality of food prepared.

Assault over leaving job

“When I saw this humiliating environment and expressed my desire to leave my job and return home, he became furious,” the complainant said in her report.

The cook also alleged that the accused forcibly took away his mobile phone so that he could not contact anyone, and he was pressurized to continue working against his will. To protect himself, he locked himself in a room. However, the father-son duo, along with their driver, allegedly opened the door and brutally assaulted him.

Police registered a case under these sections

The medical examination conducted by the police has confirmed injury marks on the face and body of the victim.

Acting on the basis of the formal complaint and medical report, Ratibad police filed a First Information Report (FIR). The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS): Section 296(B) obscene acts and profanity in public; Section 115(2) voluntarily causing hurt/assault and Section 3(5) joint criminal liability (acts done by several persons with the same intention).
