Washington DC [यूएस]June 29 (ANI): More than three decades after ‘A Few Good Men’ became a courtroom classic, actor Kevin Pollak recalls memorable behind-the-scenes moments from the 1992 film. According to People, he talked about director Rob Reiner’s method of making the film and Jack Nicholson’s hilarious attempts to distract Tom Cruise during one of the film’s most iconic scenes.
Speaking to People at the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass,’ the 68-year-old actor shared his experience working on the acclaimed courtroom drama, which was later nominated for Best Picture at the 65th Academy Awards.
Rob Reiner’s lesson: ‘If not fun, it’s nothing’
Pollack said that the most valuable lesson he learned from director Rob Reiner was to enjoy the process of filmmaking, even when working on an intense drama. According to People, Pollack said, “The biggest thing with Rob was that if we’re not having fun, there’s no point in all this.” He added, “And he said this while we were doing a very intense courtroom drama, and it was a great lesson and a great way to work.”
In ‘A Few Good Men’, Pollack played Lieutenant Sam Weinberg, one of the military lawyers who teamed up with Tom Cruise’s Lieutenant Daniel Caffey to defend two Marines accused of murdering a fellow soldier. Although the film dealt with serious subject matter, Pollack said the atmosphere on the set was happy and full of laughter.
When Renner called himself the director of ‘The Godfather’
Recalling one of his favorite memories from the production, Pollack shared an incident that occurred in Washington, D.C. It happened during the shooting of the exterior scene.
According to People, Pollack recalled, “One of my happiest moments was [जब] We traveled to Washington D.C. to install the exterior. We shot for a couple of weeks, and one night we were coming back from somewhere, just the two of us, and someone passed us and said, ‘Oh my God, Rob Reiner, how are you? Are you working here?’ And he said, ‘Yes.’ She said, ‘What are you working on?’ And he said, ‘The Godfather’.”
He added, “And the guy said, ‘Oh great.’ He kept going, and I said, ‘Why did you say The Godfather?’ And he said, ‘If I said ‘A Few Good Men,’ it was a Broadway play, but if you haven’t seen the Broadway play, you won’t know what I’m talking about. So if I say ‘The Godfather’, our conversation is over, and you and I can move on with our lives.” I’ve used it ever since.” Pollack said the incident perfectly reflected Renner’s wit and the relaxed atmosphere on set between actors such as Tom Cruise, Demi Moore and Jack Nicholson.
Jack Nicholson’s mischief in the courtroom scene
The actor also recalled Nicholson’s bubbly behavior during the filming, and revealed that the Oscar-winning actor enjoyed distracting Cruise during emotional courtroom sequences.
According to People, Pollack revealed, “When Tom [क्रूज] When Jack used to come to the courtroom to show his strength, [निकोलसन] “Definitely messed with them.”
According to Pollack, while Cruise was shooting the iconic courtroom scene with the ‘I want the truth’ line, Nicholson was standing right next to the camera and making weird faces to distract Cruise. However, Cruise remained in character and completed the take. He then humorously punched Nicholson in the shoulder, a reaction which, according to Pollack, “really pleased Jack”. (ANI)
