Donald Trump Iran News: US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of carrying out drone attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and violating the ceasefire agreement. Know what Trump said, complete information related to the attack on the ship near Oman and US-Iran talks.
Despite the implementation of the ceasefire in the Middle East, the tension does not seem to have ended completely. US President Donald Trump on Friday made serious allegations against Iran, saying that it carried out drone attacks on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump called it a “stupid violation” of the recent ceasefire agreement.
What did Trump say?
Trump claimed on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’ that Iran sent at least four one-way attack drones towards the ships. According to him, one of these drones hit the upper part of a large cargo ship, while US forces shot down the remaining three drones. However, Trump neither disclosed the name of the affected ship nor shared the exact time of the incident.
Report of attack on ship off the coast of Oman
A day before this, Britain’s maritime security agency UKMTO had informed that a cargo ship was hit by an unknown projectile about 7.5 nautical miles off the coast of Oman. According to the agency, the ship’s bridge was damaged, but no casualties were reported. At present it is not clear whether the incident Trump is referring to is related to this attack or some other incident.
Talks continue despite ceasefire
Talks are continuing between America and Iran regarding a permanent peace agreement. The two countries are discussing sensitive issues like safe movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile. Under the recent interim agreement, both sides have to try to agree on a permanent arrangement within 60 days. At such a time, allegations of drone attacks can again increase tension in the region.
Still waiting for investigation and confirmation
Till the time of writing the news, there was no official response from Iran on Trump’s allegations. Also, the claim that the ship was attacked by an Iranian drone has not been independently confirmed. In such a situation, further investigation and official reactions of both the countries will be monitored.
