Who is Ireland’s fast bowler Jai Mundra? (PC-PTI)
The Indian team now has to play a T20 series against Ireland, which is starting from Friday i.e. 26th June. For this series, Ireland has included a fast bowler of Indian origin named Jai Mundra in its team. Jai Mundra learned the art of cricket in India but later he went to Ireland for studies. He had almost given up cricket but at the age of 24, he took the game seriously again and now he has joined the Irish national team and will be facing the great players of his own country. Who is Jai Mundra and what are his specialties, we will tell further but first also know that he can prove to be a big threat for batsmen like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma.
Who is Jai Mundra?
Jai Mundra is a left arm fast bowler who also bats well in the lower order. Mundra was born in Tonk, Rajasthan. He was interested in cricket since childhood and also played in an academy. This player started as a fast bowler but by the age of 16, he became a top order batsman and left arm spinner but after going to Ireland, he started bowling fast again. This player graduated in the year 2019 and during this time he also played for the college team. His speed kept increasing due to which he started liking fast bowling a lot.
At the age of 24, this player went to Ireland to pursue a degree course and also decided to improve himself as a cricketer. He joined Leinster Club in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, where he made a name for himself in domestic cricket. In the year 2023, Leinster club won the Irish Senior Cup and from there Jai Mundra also came into limelight.
Why is Jai Mundra dangerous for Vaibhav Suryavanshi?
The reason why Jai Mundra is dangerous for batsmen like Vaibhav Suryavanshi is his talent. Actually, this left arm fast bowler can swing the new ball in both directions. He also has a good angle. Mundhra brings the ball in from an angle which often surprises the batsmen. Mundra is considered very strong mentally. He forces the batsmen to make mistakes under pressure.
In a conversation with Cricket Ireland, he told that his priority is to dismiss the top order batsmen. The conditions of Ireland are suitable for his bowling and batsmen like Vaibhav Suryavanshi-Abhishek Sharma can get trapped in his swing. Jai Mundra has played five T20 matches in Ireland so far in which he has taken 10 wickets. Ireland will expect him to perform well against India also.
