President Draupadi Murmu honored celebrities including Rohit Sharma, Alka Yagnik, Mammootty at the second ceremony of Padma Awards 2026.
New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu honored many famous personalities of the country with Padma awards in a ceremony organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. In the second felicitation ceremony, the President honored many well-known personalities for their contribution in fields like cinema, music, public service and art. Among those honored were Mammootty, Alka Yagnik, R. Madhavan and Ajith Kumar. The President had earlier honored late Dharmendra, veteran actor Prosenjit Chatterjee and theater veteran Arvind Vaidya at the felicitation ceremony. This program was organized in the Republic Pavilion of Rashtrapati Bhavan. During this period, 2 Padma Vibhushan, 7 Padma Bhushan and 56 Padma Shri awards were given. Some awards are also being given jointly.
Padma Vibhushan to former judge KT Thomas and journalist P Narayanan
At the ceremony, former Supreme Court judge KT Thomas will be honored with the Padma Vibhushan for his contribution in the field of public service. At the same time, Malayalam journalist P Narayanan will be awarded the country’s second highest civilian honor Padma Vibhushan for his contribution in the field of literature and education.
Rohit Sharma, Alka Yagnik and Mammootty also honored
Many famous and eminent personalities will also be honored in this phase. A total of 131 celebrities were selected in 2026
The government has selected a total of 131 personalities for the Padma Awards for the year 2026. Earlier, 66 people were honored in the first phase ceremony held on 25th. In the first phase, Padma awards were given to many prominent personalities including women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, senior actor Dharmendra.
